BUTTERFLIES OF SOUTH AFRICA

Butterflies (Lepidoptera): The diversity in the world of butterflies is vast with approximately 20,000 species worldwide and of these South Africa is home to 666. Many of these butterflies are endemic, being found nowhere else in the worrld. most of the photographs of butterflies that appear in this gallery will be from the Kwa-Zulu Natal region in South Africa. At times closeup and macro shots will be used to enhance some special features and contribute to showing just how beautiful the world of butterflies is.
